Samantha Schulte, originally from Castroville, Texas, is a senior communication studies major and an English minor at St. Mary’s University. She is a kind and compassionate person who hopes to utilize everything she has learned during college in her career.
Schulte chose to major in communication studies because of its relevance and practicality to everyday life. Similarly, her passion for literature led her to a minor in English.
Last year, she interned with Make-A-Wish Foundation where she learned how nonprofit organizations function. She learned about the fundraising aspect of nonprofits, and she gained experience interviewing families and children about the wish they wanted to receive. She also got to help plan wishes, and maintain contact with families or anyone else involved with the wish. She admired the passion with which the staff worked in achieving their goals, inspiring her to pursue a career in nonprofit organizations after she graduates in spring 2020.
